The estate on which Woodville palace has been built was first occupied in 1865 by Sir William Mansfield, Commander in Chief of the Imperial Army. The palace was reconstructed in 1938 by the Rana of Jubbal, who brought in hundreds of expert artisans from far and wide to ensure the highest quality of craftsmanship. Raj Kumar Udai Singh of Jubbal, his grandson, opened a part of the mansion as a guest house in 1977.

Shimla, at 7000 ft, straddling several hills and surrounded by pine forests and apple orchards, was once the summer capital of the British Imperial Government. It is, to date, one of North India's most popular hill stations and has burgeoned far beyond the days when it was a little hill town with just a Mall and a scattering of summer residences.

Woodville Palace Hotel is still a throwback to the heyday of the Raj and sheltered from the bustle of the hordes within its four acre property.

Restaurant & Bar
The Imperial banquet: The Imperial banquet hall and the latest Octagonal Dining Hall are the formal dining areas in the Woodville Palace and used for high teas and dinners hosted for state and international dignitaries. They are multi cuisine, serving up Himachali, North Indian as well as Continental treats to the food connoisseur.

The House of the Rising Sun: The recent addition to Woodville Palace is the beautiful garden restaurant called ‘The House of the Rising Sun’, which was inaugurated by the Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan. It is aesthetically located in the sprawling gardens of Woodville Palace and is surrounded by bamboo and deodars, which provide an ideal and natural enclosure. Constructed purely out of clear glass, one can see and hear the raindrops drumming against the roof and running down the glass walls even as one is indulging into scrumptious delights.

Garden Café: There is also a Garden Café for those most closely inclined to experience nature while they dine. Located aesthetically among pine trees, its scenic beauty is commendable. It also has open spaces for children to frisk about. The resturant servers a coffee shop menu with global tit bits.

The Hollywood Bar 1930's: The Hollywood Bar 1930's showcases autographed pictures by famous Hollywood Stars such as Clark Gable, Robert Taylor, Laurel & Hardy, Katherine Hepburn, Joan Crawford, Maurice Chevalier, Fred Astaire, Marlene Deitrich signed over to Princess Brinda (grandmother of Mr. Uday Singh of Jubbal - the owner of the hotel)

Room Facilities
The most amazing aspect of Woodville is that no two rooms would necessarily be similar. The rooms are a perfect blend of vintage ambience and modern amenities. Each room seems to tell tales and whisper unheard secrets of the bygone eras with their décor. The rooms and corridors are lined with Persian carpets and lithographs which are over a century old. The finest rosewood, teakwood and ebony furniture welcome guests with the same hospitality as the hotel staff.

With 31 rooms, Woodville also offers standard facilities such as television, telephones, intercoms and running hot and cold-water facilities, which are expected of a heritage hotel of this caliber. You can also enjoy a glass of wine standing in the balconies of these rooms and viewing the scenic landscapes and enjoying the cool breeze.

Other Facilities & Services
Banquet & Conference Facility, River Rafting arranged on Request, Billiards and Snookers, Table Tennis, Badminton, Nature Walks at Woodville Grounds, Travel Desk, Car Parking, Doctor on call, Laundry, Pony and horse rides for children and adults (On Call)
